Is Tuchel the right man for the job?
Thomas Tuchel officially took charge of the England men’s national team at the start of 2025, succeeding interim manager Lee Carsley. The German has already been seen attending several Premier League matches, the latest being Sunday’s 2-2 thriller between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield.
His appointment in October 2024 sparked controversy among the English fan base, with many expressing frustration at the English Football Association (FA) for hiring a foreign manager. Thomas Tuchel addressed the criticism in his first press conference, saying, “Sorry, I have a German passport.”
Throughout his managerial career, Thomas Tuchel has coached some of the biggest clubs in world football including Dortmund, PSG, Chelsea and most recently Bayern Munich. The German has earned a reputation as a master of tournament football and has achieved significant success, including winning the DFB Pokal with Dortmund in 2017 and leading Chelsea to Champions League glory in 2021.

I think the no foreign manager part is BS especially since there’s no one else England could reasonably bring in that was English when they were looking. What they were gonna bring in Potter, never. Tuchel is an experienced manager who brings everything England need to get the best out of this generation and I think 2026 it can come home.
